Getting Married in Springfield: A Hidden Gem in Jacksonville

Devon and Cary’s downtown Jacksonville micro wedding was everything I love about intimate celebrations: full of meaning, laughter, vintage charm, and a vibe that just felt right. The day started in the heart of Springfield, one of Jacksonville’s most historic neighborhoods, inside The Sugar Magnolia House, a beautiful historic home that matched the couple’s timeless energy perfectly.

The Most Unforgettable Father-Daughter Moment

One of my favorite moments of the entire day happened before the ceremony even began. Devon’s dad, who is in his 90s, had everyone in tears from laughing so hard. He’s still so full of spunk and wit, and I may or may not have given him a little sass right back before the ceremony started. The love and connection between them was such a joy to witness — honest, emotional, and unforgettable.

Downtown Jacksonville Wedding Portraits in a Classic Ford Galaxy

After the ceremony, we all piled into the couple’s 1964 Ford Galaxy 500 convertible. My assistant Amy and I jumped in the backseat, and from there it felt less like a wedding shoot and more like we were just out partying with friends. We cruised all over downtown Jacksonville, chasing the light and capturing portraits that were fun, natural, and totally them.

These two were up for anything. They trusted the process, trusted me, and gave me every ounce of personality and love they had to offer. That trust and openness is what made their photos come alive.
