A Love Story That Started… in Jail


Some love stories are full of surprises, and Mikayla and John’s journey is no exception! When they first told me how they met, I couldn’t help but laugh. Both work in law enforcement, and their story begins—believe it or not—in jail.

Before you jump to conclusions, they were both there working. Mikayla was busy doing her job, focused and professional, while John was bringing someone in to book. But instead of just going about his day, John couldn’t help but notice Mikayla. In fact, he was secretly checking her out!

True to his investigative skills, John did a little “recon” with the help of a mutual friend, got her number, and the rest is history. It’s safe to say they caught each other’s hearts—and thank goodness it wasn’t in cuffs!

From Wedding Guests to My Couple


I first met Mikayla and John while shooting Angela and Dustin’s wedding just a few months before their own celebration at Chandler Oaks Barn. They were guests that day, but it wasn’t long before they approached me during the reception. Mikayla asked if I might be available to photograph their wedding in November.

As fate would have it, I had an opening. A month later, Mikayla reached out with the news that their original photographer could no longer make it. It truly felt like it was meant to be, and I was honored to step in for their special day at Chandler Oaks Barn.

Welcomed Like Family


From the moment I arrived on their wedding day, Mikayla and John (and family and friends) made me feel like I was part of the family. Their warmth and kindness set the tone for a truly magical day.

The weather couldn’t have been more perfect—sunny skies and crisp air that made the grounds at Chandler Oaks Barn shine. This venue is nothing short of breathtaking, with its rustic charm and sprawling landscapes providing the most stunning backdrops for photos.

Dancing, Laughter, and Love


If there’s one thing you should know about Mikayla and John, it’s that their personalities light up any room. The reception was an absolute party, with music pumping and their guests dancing the night away.

Mikayla was the life of the dance floor, but John? Let’s just say he prefers cheering from the sidelines. Naturally, I stepped in as Mikayla’s photographer and unofficial dance partner—how could I not?

Everywhere I turned, I saw moments filled with love, laughter, and pure joy. From the heartfelt toasts to the quiet, candid moments between the couple, their wedding day at Chandler Oaks Barn was a perfect reflection of their relationship: fun, meaningful, and deeply connected.

A Day to Remember


Mikayla and John, your love story is one for the books—unique, heartfelt, and full of laughter. I’m so grateful fate brought us together, and I feel truly honored to have captured your special day at Chandler Oaks Barn.
