As a photographer, every wedding I’m invited to capture is a unique story waiting to unfold. But Brianna and Luke’s wedding at the Barn at Cottonwood was not just another event for me. It was a culmination of relationships, unexpected moments, and pure joy that I’ll forever cherish.

My journey with this wonderful couple began long before their wedding day. It all started with Brianna’s mom, Brenda, who first hired me back in 2017 for a headshot session. Little did I know, that single session would mark the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Brenda and I clicked instantly, bonding over shared passions and horses! She even invited me to her farm to go horseback riding, and we’ve been close ever since!

So, when Brianna reached out to me about photographing her wedding, I couldn’t help but wonder if Brenda had a hand in it. However, as I got to know Brianna, I realized that she and I were kindred spirits, cut from the same cloth. Her vibrant energy and zest for life were infectious, and I knew right away that capturing her special day would be a freaking BLAST.

The day of the wedding dawned with perfect weather, setting the stage for a day filled with love and laughter. The Barn at Cottonwood provided a picturesque backdrop, and with the help of Jenn, we effortlessly moved around to capture the best angles and light.

One of the most heartwarming moments was when Brenda surprised Brianna with her two adorable dogs, She completely LOST IT and had to have her makeup redone. Ha! The adorable dogs also walked down the aisle, adding an extra touch of love and warmth to the ceremony. As a veterinarian, Brianna’s connection with animals runs deep, and seeing her beloved pets by her side on her special day was the BEST! Fun Fact, they also knew I put meat in my fanny pack ensuring that they’d come right to me down the aisle ๐Ÿ™‚

But amidst the beauty and serenity, there was a moment that will forever stand out in my memory โ€“THE SWANS. Just minutes before the ceremony was set to begin, chaos ensued as the swans in the lake by the altar engaged in what seemed like a fierce battle. I thought for sure there was going to be a swan murder…. With nerves running high, I made a split-second decision to ensure that Brianna and Luke’s moment remained undisturbed. Since all of the guests were watching them battle, I quickly yelled, “If this is happening during the ceremony, you will pretend like its not! HA (They were so loud btw) Miraculously, as the ceremony commenced, so did the swans’ peace, much to everyone’s relief. It turns out, it was just mating season โ€“ a quirky reminder that love knows no bounds, even in the animal kingdom.

As the day progressed, Brianna and Luke’s love story unfolded in the most beautiful of ways. Their infectious energy kept the dance floor alive, with Luke even taking flight multiple times as he was lifted into the air. Jake from JHP Entertainment ensured that the party never missed a beat, keeping the celebrations going well into the night.

And then came the grand finale โ€“ the sparkler exit. As we bid farewell to the newlyweds amidst a sea of shimmering lights, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of gratitude for being a part of such a magical day. Brianna and Luke’s wedding wasn’t just about two people coming together in love; it was a celebration of friendship, family, and the joy that fills our hearts when we find our perfect match.

In the end, as I packed up my camera gear and bid farewell to the Donovan’s wedding at the Barn at Cottonwood, I couldn’t help but smile. For in those fleeting moments captured through my lens, I witnessed the purest form of happiness โ€“ a love story that will undoubtedly stand the test of time. And for that, I am forever grateful.

Thank you Brianna and Luke (and Brenda!) for choosing me to be a part of your amazing day! I can’t wait to keep documenting your growing family (like really soon ๐Ÿ˜‰ )
