When you want to have your wedding on the beach in Florida, you always run the risk of rain. When I showed up to capture Katie and Drew’s Hammock Beach wedding not only was it raining (with like a 90% chance of rain all day long) but there were TORNADO warnings! It was crazy! I tried to get some shots of Katie in her beautiful wedding dress in the hallways of the resort, but the rain was coming in sideways! Time to get creative. PS… all day I was like, “What rain?” and just danced around getting everyone hype because THAT is what I do!
Rainy Day Wedding
There’s no question that the weather added an element of challenge, but Katie and Drew weren’t about to let it stop them, and neither was I! Fortunately, Hammock Beach Resort is absolutely beautiful inside, and I was able to find a lovely window with greenery where we could highlight this gorgeous couple and their wedding party. And guess what? The rain let up for just a few minutes at sunset–enough time for a few stunning shots! Hashtag blessed, am I right?
UNC and Sparklers
Another thing that made Katie and Drew’s Hammock Beach wedding memorable for me was that these two are huge University of North Carolina fans. UNC just happened to be in the final four on their wedding day, so they had a projector and screen set up during the reception so everyone could watch and dance at the same time, lol! Needless to say, it was a party! Everybody was loving it so much that I had a tough time getting all the guests outside for the sparkler exit at the end of the evening. How did I manage it? I got on the mic and told them that even though the game was close, UNC would win the game…as long as everyone went outside and did the sparkler exit! That did it. And guess what? I was right! UNC won! (So, to all UNC fans, you’re welcome. That was all me) π
I had an absolute blast being the wedding photographer for Katie and Drew’s Hammock Beach wedding! I am so happy for you both! You are amazing and absolutely meant for each other. (I know because you didn’t stop smiling all day regardless of the weather!) Thank you for letting me be part of your unforgettable day–tornado warnings and all!
