So, I love firsts, and Allison and Tyrone’s brunch wedding in St Augustine was a first for me! I’ve actually never done a brunch wedding–but I loved it! I also loved seeing these two again! They’ve been together for a while and I did a couples session for them (and their dogs) four years ago. (Which is when I realized how ridiculously adorable these two are together) I was stoked when I found out they were tying the knot and wanted me to be their wedding photographer.
Since it was a brunch wedding, the start was pretty early, but I have to say, the buffet was the bomb! Doesn’t get much better than mimosas and chicken and waffles, am I right?
“The course of true love never did run smooth,” and the big obstacle on Allison and Tyrone’s wedding day was the weather–90% chance of rain. All day. Seriously. The bride and groom weren’t stressed at all though. They were just excited to be together, see their extended family, and enjoy this day together. What a great attitude! I was hoping for a break in the weather after the ceremony so we could head to the Castillo de San Marcos for some photos, but it just kept raining. It was all good though–we got the obligatory “raining under the umbrella shot” instead, complete with the blooming bougainvillea at the White Room. And the rain actually gave the bride and groom more time with their guests during cocktail hour. Everything was just so laid back and sweet–exactly like the both of them!
I kept checking the weather though (OCD, I can’t help it), and I realized that after the reception there was just the tiniest chance we might have a few dry minutes. So I told them, “Don’t go anywhere after the bubble exit. We’re going to jump in my car and head to the fort!”
We took the umbrellas just in case, but as luck would have it the rain stopped–literally right before the bubble exit. The timing couldn’t have been better! We headed straight to the fort and got there right around 1pm. Normally the sun would be too strong at that time, but since it was a stormy day the clouds were perfect and we created pure magic! Talk about gorgeous!
