One of my favorite things about documenting a love story is learning the story of how a couple met. I’ve heard all sorts of stories in my time as a wedding photographer but I especially love the ones where the bride and groom serendipitously get together. Morgan and Mark first met on the dating app Bumble. Actually, I take that back, the day before matching on Bumble, they had an “eye contact only” meet-cute at TacoLu’s where neither made a move… I can’t make it up. After making the official move on Bumble, they started to message each other. The problem was, Mark, a PGA Caddie, was leaving the next day for a month! Morgan figured it was over and done until Mark returned a month later and found her on Instagram. They decided to meet for coffee at Southern Grounds Coffee in Jax Beach. Little did they know, they would spend the next three hours getting to know each other and quickly become completely inseparable. Or that years later they would be getting married just a few blocks from where they shared a cup of coffee.
I met Morgan and Mark a few years ago when I was documented Morgan’s sister, Taylor’s wedding at the Ribault Club (See it HERE). By that time Morgan and Mark had become completely inseparable and I’d like to think they chose me as their wedding photographer right then! Fun fact: Morgan and Taylor look *so* much alike that they can open each other’s phones with facial recognition. HOW CRAZY IS THAT?!
The Bride and Groom chose to host their Jax Beach Wedding at Hotel Palms and let me tell you how cute this place is. Originally built in 1947, the hotel is a renovated motor court inn just a couple of blocks from the ocean. It’s cozy and art deco-ish courtyard was the perfect place to host their micro wedding. Plus its location meant we could go literally all over for wedding pictures, including Southern Grounds. It’s not often I get to represent the place a couple met in their wedding photos! From there we chose to hit the beach for sunset photos and of course, they killed it. Although, my favorite part was finding the guy working out on the beach. *Of course,* we needed to get photos with him in the background. I don’t think he even had a clue, but he’s famous now!
Speaking of famous. Morgans custom made wedding dress was absolutely breathtaking and may have been the most popular dress I’ve ever photographed! The entire day was amazing and I love to see this trend toward small, intimate but love-filled wedding days.
Thank you so much, Morgan and Mark, for trusting me to capture your Jax beach wedding!
