Brooke and Tony actually met when Brooke became interested in working with his company and they were set to discuss job opportunities. What makes this story even more interesting is the fact that *I* actually used to work for this same company. That’s how I know both Tony and Brooke’s dad (who also worked there!). It never ceases to amaze me how the connections you make throughout life come back to you at the most unexpected times. But I’m so glad that they do because that’s how I found myself down in the sunny Florida keys photographing Brook and Tony’s incredible Destination Wedding at Casa Marina Key West.
2020 seems to have it out for my brides. If they aren’t battling the challenges of planning a wedding during COVID, it’s constantly threatening to rain on wedding days this year. For Brooke and Tony’s wedding, the weather radar threatened an 80% chance of rain all day long! As usual, I brought all of my umbrellas and everything needed to shoot it out in a rainstorm. The venue even put up a tent to set up on the beach in an effort to shelter everyone in the event of rain too. I don’t want to jinx it – but I’m pretty sure that preparing for rain is the only way to keep it away! Because believe it or not, it never even rained a drop! It was magic!
So, we were able to carry out this gorgeous beach wedding just as it was intended and let me tell you, it was a beautiful day. The bride and groom clearly have an amazing sense of style and it showed. Brooke’s vision for the day was executed to perfection right down to her AMAZING Christian Louboutin shoes. Not to be left out, Tony gave a nod to his love for aviation with a custom made suit featuring interior fabric of a real cockpit. I could go on all day about the details of the day but by far one of my favorites was the fact that they had flower boys. Now by boys, I defintiely mean grown men. YASSSS! This is absolutely a trend I want to see more of in the future. They were a riot and obviously my favorite. ha!
I have to talk about the incredible venue, the amazing palm trees, and all of the stunning backdrops we had for photos. But ultimately what I love about destination weddings isn’t the beauty. It’s that the closest and best people are the ones willing to make the trip. Ultimately this means that these weddings are always special, always meaningful, and hours of so much fun!
Congratulations Brooke and Tony! Thank you so much for trusting me to photograph your stunning destination wedding at Casa Marina. It was unforgettable!
