Heather and Jelmer’s Utah wedding was absolutely incredible. I can’t wait to take you all through the highlights of the day but first, we start at the beginning – nearly 25 years ago! Heather and Jelmer first met over two decades ago when they both attended a study abroad in Israel. But as fate would have it, they never kept in touch after the study abroad was over and it wasn’t until recently that they rekindled! Sometimes, the best things in life are worth the wait right?

I’d have to say it’s true because time wasn’t the only obstacle in their way to wedded bliss. Jelmer and his seven children were actually living in the Netherlands! So everyone moved to Salt Lake City where they not only became one big happy family but also celebrated their wedding.

As for me, I couldn’t have been more excited that Heather and Jelmer chose me to photograph their Utah wedding. I’m always looking for a great excuse to travel and weddings are high on that list. As a Florida girl born and raised, the scenery that Utah brought had my heart singing. I mean, look at the mountains!!! They are simply gorgeous in Salt Lake City and it’s funny how the people that live there easily forget to appreciate them. I was in a grocery store parking lot saying, “Wow, look how beautiful they are.” On the wedding day, we went to Dimple Dell Regional Nature Park to shoot their portraits prior to the ceremony starting. I died! It was absolutely stunning. Then we got to the ceremony location, Le Jardin, that was basically an amazing greenhouse, which brought me right back to my Florida environment! Their sweet little ceremony was full of touching details joining the USA to the Netherlands and both families together. Also, Heather’s sweet little dog Lulu had to be a part of the ceremony and did her job perfectly. Jelmer’s family made sure to gift Heather with real clogs from the Netherlands! They were perfect after being in her gorgeous “something blue” Manolo Blahnik shoes that were made famous by Carrie Bradshaw in Sex in the City!
