When I first met with Alyssa and James to discuss their wedding at the White Room both sides of their family came to my house. I mean, like 12 people showed up in my living room. For some people, this might have been a little intimidating, but I swear to you, I fell in love. Both of their dads were just absolutely adorable and their entire family was great. I just loved everyone.  To be honest, it was also pretty heartwarming to see so many people invested in a bride and grooms big day this early in the process. Getting to know everyone ahead of time made it so special to be apart of their wedding day because it felt like I got invited to a big family reunion!

Speaking of, their big day almost never even happened. Alyssa and James’ wedding at the White Room was scheduled for the Sunday that hurricane Dorian was supposed to hit Florida. So the week before their wedding we’re all questioning whether or not this was going to happen. But ultimately the bride and groom decided to carry on with their wedding. As it turned out, the hurricane did not hit Sunday but the entire town of St. Augustine was under evacuation beginning the following day. So literally the whole town was being boarded up as they were preparing for their ceremony!

But, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise because the city of St Augustine was basically empty. Also, most of their guests made it, even those coming in from out of town! When I showed up, everyone was ready to party! Seriously, we all had so much fun. There was so much love and laughter, it was just a perfect day. Also, we didn’t have to fight any crowds for their portraits at the fort. TALK ABOUT A MONEY SKY! It wound up being this beautiful, intimate and really fun wedding at the White Room.
