Bridgette and Jonathon had a gorgeous wedding in Charleston, South Carolina at the Citadel on the most perfect September Day. These adorable people chose to get married at the University Jonathon attended and lord it was beautiful! The architecture was insanely gorgeous and there was a beautiful park nearby where we also took a lot of their wedding photographs. I would love to photograph another wedding in Charleston literally any day.

The one thing that always gets me at weddings are the emotions of the day. I knew Bridgette and Jonathon were in love from shooting their engagement session. But it was even more apparent on their wedding day. One of my favorite photos of the day has to be him gently wiping a tear from her eye during their ceremony at the Citadel. I mean c’mon dude, does it get any sweeter? And the look on the grooms face when he saw his bride? Stop it.

Military weddings are always really fun in that they’re usually filled with really cool traditions. One of my favorites is the sword ceremony. We inherited the tradition from the British Army and it demonstrates a pledge of fidelity from the military to the new couple, since the military service members literally shelter the newly married couple beneath the arch as they exit the church. Fun fact: The sword detail typically shouldn’t be used as groomsmen or ushers; but they can escort honored guests like the Mother-of-the-Bride or -Groom to their seat.

Another great thing about a military wedding at the Citadel in Charleston? Really great, close friends. Their wedding was a huge, big party at the Charleston Harbor Marina with tons of fun and a few surprises. Including wedding crashers at the end 😉 I have to also add that Jonathon’s mom is literally the bomb and surprised them with a Rolls Royce. Like how insane and amazing?!
