Yay! If you’re here, it probably means you’ve booked newborn photos with me. I can’t wait to spend the day with your new bundle. If you haven’t already, check out my How to Prepare Post!ย If you’re like most parents of newborns, you’re pretty sleep deprived. So I wanted to lay out the answers to some frequently asked questions for you to refer back to as the session nears!
Newborn Photography Session FAQs
How long will the session take?
Most parents are surprised by how long a newborn session requires. In addition to photography, there will be times for outfit changes, diaper changes and plenty of snack breaks (for baby). It all adds up! My goal is 2 hours, but some babies like to push that. Usually no more than 4 hours.
How much will the baby eat during the session?
Believe it or not, having your newborn photos is a lot of work. I know all of that sleeping looks deceiving! Don’t be surprised if your baby is extra hungry. Some babies eat what feels like the ENTIRE session, some donโt. Be prepared either way – even if your baby never typically eats this much!
What about props and outfits?
I have a TON of props, backdrops and outfits for boys, girls, and TWINS! You literally donโt need to bring anything! That being said, if there is something special you would like to bring just let me know a few days ahead of time so that we can plan accordingly.
Okay, the baby is covered but what do WE wear?!
I always recommend mom and dad wear black. Siblings can also wear black or white tops and jeans (or dresses). The parents wearing black brings all the attention to the baby, and by minimizing distraction it really allows me to capture the love and connection you have with your baby. Plus it looks AMAZING in black and white photos. I have a black maternity dress that most moms wear for the session. Dads can just bring a solid black t-shirt. I also have a few of those on hand if you don’t have one ๐
Where is your studio?
I live in an amazing downtown condo in the Peninsula on the River. My studio is located in my gorgeous second bedroom. I always encourage mom and dad to rest and relax while we’re doing photos. The balcony is a great place to recharge and enjoy the beautiful view.
My address is 1431 Riverplace Blvd. Valet Park once you get here and tell them youโre here for me! The concierge will send you up.
How long will it take to edit my pictures?
I know the agony of waiting for photos of your precious squish! So I will get you a few sneak peeks up within a day or two. You’ll then get a proofing gallery where you choose which photos you’d like to purchase and I’ll get those edited usually within two weeks!. Newborn images are very tedious, some take up to 45 minutes per picture! But I promise the wait is worth it.
How many images will be in my gallery?
My goal for your gallery is to have 20-30 images for you to choose from.
