It’s official, if you want to have your baby quickly, schedule your maternity photos. Ashley was in my studio on a Friday and then gave birth on the following Monday! Ok, it was actually planned that way… but, how GORGEOUS is Ashley? I mean seriously, I usually shoot maternity photos at the 30 week mark, and Ashly is quite a bit past that! Ashley was such a stunning momma. Seriously look at that perfect belly, it was stunning in anything she put on and Richard was a pretty handsome papa too!

Because their sweet baby was born so quickly after Ashley’s maternity session I didn’t have to wait long before meeting Myla. She was every bit as sweet and as precious as I thought she would be. She was also an absolute dream to photograph. Myla was perfect the entire session and slept like an angel. I got some of my favorite newborn photos of all time, especially the photos on a black backdrop. Could they be any more perfect? Myla fit so sweetly in her daddies hands. I also love the little detail shots too. Those tiny fingers and toes, little lips and button nose start to change all too quickly. The newborn stage is so fleeting, within a year they look like an entirely different person.

But of all the photos we took, the one of Myla asleep on a fluffy cloud next to a colorful rainbow will always mean the most. I knew after hearing Ashley’s story of loss, I had to do something special for this special little girl… Losing a child is something no parent should ever have to go through. Myla is their rainbow baby. A “rainbow baby” is a baby that is born following a miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death or infant loss. In the real world, a beautiful and bright rainbow follows a storm and gives hope that things will get better.
