One of my favorite parts of being a photographer is getting to watch families grow. There are few other professions in the world where you get to be a part of so many life-changing moments throughout a person's life. I originally met Ashley and Rich for a maternity...
Kingston Winnie the Pooh Cake Smash
When Kingston’s mom was looking for a photographer to capture his first birthday pictures, she didn’t have far to look in order to find me right next door! While we did shoot his cake smash in the studio, first we went to Treaty Oak in downtown Jacksonville for new family portraits. This amazing tree is estimated to be 250 years old and may be the single oldest living thing in Jacksonville. How amazing is that? It also makes for a really beautiful backdrop and within walking distance from my studio!
After the quick family shoot, it was time to hit the studio for a Winnie the Pooh cake smash! His mom chose the theme and really wanted to go for something simple and use the older style Pooh. She even brought in some of the vintage stuffed animals. So that’s what we did! I think the photos turned out gorgeous and timeless too. His honey pot cake, designed by Alley Cakes, was so amazing. She even nailed the “hunny.” But Kingston is who stole the show. He was so, SO happy. He might have been one of the smiliest kids I’ve ever had in the studio. But the funny tidbit his mom shared with me is that he isn’t usually like that at home. He’s definitely happy but when he’s at home Kingston is a kid who likes to be on the go and whenever he meets new people he’s the happiest baby on planet earth.
He had so much fun playing in his cake. Although I’m not sure he was too big a fan of actually eating it, he definitely enjoyed making a mess of his cake smash and has the pictures to prove it.
Happy first birthday to one of the smiliest baby I’ve ever met, Kingston!

Jacksonville has had a bit of a rough weather patch for the last month or so - and it's been wreaking havoc on my photo sessions. I'm starting to think that North Florida missed the memo that spring was a few months ago! However, the weather has finally decided to...
