I’ll let you in on a little secret. One of the events that tugs at a photographers heart strings more than a wedding, are wedding anniversaries. Weddings are great, it’s two people about to take that first step in life together. Anniversaries, especially those celebrating their 40th together are even more special. Because here you have two people who have been through it all, raised a family and still choose each other after so many years. Maureen and Mitchell’s family came with them to the Ritz Carlton Amelia Island in order to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary together.
Their daughter Masha is actually the one who reached out to me all the way from California. She said the kids wanted to gift their parents a family session for their anniversary since everyone was going to be together. What an incredible anniversary gift, right? Maureen was very excited for the photos, she explained to me that she and Mitchell had never had “lovey” pictures. So I was glad to be getting those shots for her. Few things are sweeter than lovey photos after forty years of marriage.
Although it wasn’t long before Noah completely stole the show. He absolutely loved the beach and keeping up with this little guy kept us all busy. Lucky for me he also enjoyed hamming it up for the camera and he kept everyone laughing.
The beach and surrounding dunes at the Ritz Carlton on Amelia island was the perfect backdrop for these anniversary photos. It was also a convenient location to have dessert and drinks with my clients after the session (heck yeah I said yes to after-session drinks!). It never ceases to amaze me how quickly clients become friends. But I think that’s what happens when you really get to know your clients and try to capture their unique personalities.
