To be a newborn twins photographer, it takes years of knowledge and training. After I finished with this session, I told Molly how thankful I was to have so much experience with newborns before I tried to photograph twins! ย I was so excited when Molly and Ethan chose me to be their photographer. In fact, I was one of the only people that knew they were expecting! ย Molly wanted to document these special angels from start to finish. We planned the pregnancy announcement shoot highlighting Ethan being a Navy pilot. As you see below, they were the cutest announcement shots!!
I must admit, I won the photography job by default. I mean, what are the chances a newborn photographer has a studio in your building? So, I got to see Molly every eight weeks for her maternity progression shot. It was amazing to watch her belly grow! Truthfully, she is so tiny that she didn’t get much bigger than most mommies with ONE baby!
There were two surprises that I got really excited about. First, when I found out it was two girls. If you’ve been to my studio, I have a TON of newborn girl outfit and props. What can I say? They are just too cute, so I have way too much! The second surprise was that they were due to arrive on February 14th. I mean seriously. How cute to have two gorgeous girls born on Valentine’s Day!
The Birth
One of my favorite things to do is birth sessions. I am honored when parents allow me to be part of such a special miracle! ย It was so emotional watching not only the birth but the love that Molly and Ethan had for each other and for their baby girls. Also, I didn’t learn their names until each baby came into the world! Ethan wouldn’t even tell me minutes before their birth! Sweet Maya Kathryn came first followed by her sister, Ellie Juliette, one minute later. The whole room fell in love immediately!
The In-Studio Session(s)
I was so excited about the girls coming toย the studio that I made them a prop. I had a vision of seeing them in a floral hanging prop, and I am so glad to sayย that my vision came to fruition! But, that one shot took about three hours of shooting and a few hours of editing! ย That’s why I was so lucky to have the girls in my building! ย When they were ten days old, I photographed them in the floral prop I made. At twelve days old, I did the girls with mommy and daddy. Then at thirteen days old, I did all the other fun shots! ย Total of seven hours of shooting alone! But, it was worth every second. These are some of my favorite newborn shots to date, and I’m so thankful that I was the lucky photographer to do it!
Molly and Ethan, I can’t thank you enough for trusting me to document such special gifts. I am sad that you are moving away,ย but hopefully we will find away for me to document Ellie and Maya’s Milestones!
